Wildlife camels can't be met only in the dessert Gobi. This herd is living in the northern Changai mountains. Camels are well adapted for the continental climate with extreme a variations in temperature. The temperature in winter is between 5 and -22 °F and in summer between 50 and 80 °F. In winter it is very dry and even in summer there is seldom more than 400 mm rain in the mountains or respectively 120 mm in the desert.
Almost 90 percent of Mongolia is used as rangeland or consists of desert.
